Author Frank Goff’s book, Chicago Crime Story: A true-crime novel inspired by actual events, is a deep dive into some of the cases he worked on the streets of Chicago. It was thrilling to collaborate with a retired police detective and experience the eye-opening drama of behind-the-scenes scenarios he faced as a first responder, often under cover.

Generally, authors contact me to explore the facets of book editing. They ask many questions, and I explain how the process works efficiently and collaboratively.

I read through the manuscript first to assess the amount and type of editing needed. Some books need only proofreading. Some need quite a bit of copyediting. Some need line editing or developmental editing. Some need a substantive overhaul.

Once I understand the needs of the manuscript, I provide a fair and thorough quote and an explanation of how I plan to elevate the content. Generally, the quote is by word count.
